October has officially been renamed Gothtober as The Coven brings you not one but two events next month.

First up is Coven on Friday 2nd of October at Halo. Resident and guest DJs will serve out all the Goth, Industrial, Metal and Aggrotech your puny bodies can handle.

Then on the 17th of October electronic music legend David Thrussell aka Snog makes his first ever Hobart appearance at The Brisbane Hotel.

What:

After a mammoth showing in July, The Coven is back on Friday 7th of August.

This month we’re introducing even more new DJs and promising more music genres than you can poke a stick at. Industrial, EBM, Metal and Goth, all tastes will be catered for.

Featuring resident DJs Changeling, Spreckenstein, Maggot, Digi, and Oblivion plus guests TBA.

Next Coven: Reminiscence

Step into your time machine and set the clock for the 3rd of July 2009 for The Coven: Reminiscence.

We’re going back in time to explore the darker side of the olden days. From visigoths to pirates, chimney sweeps to countesses, weave and mangle the fashion of today with the style of yesteryear.

Featuring resident DJs Spreckenstein, Changeling, Maggot, Oblivion and Digi plus guests playing all the EBM, Goth, Metal and Industrial you can waltz to.

No theme this time but who needs one? Goth it up to the max at your monthly source of all things alternative, The Coven.

DJs Sigil, Mandrax, Tinky Winky, Spreckenstein, Changeling, Maggot, Gravedigger, Oblivion und Morvian are primed to assualt your ears with all the Goth, Industrial, Metal, and New Wave Of EBM your body can handle.
We’ve got a new DJ this month and some more new fiends infecting us with their own brands of musical cataclysm over the next few covens to ensure your coven experience has a nice range of evil!

The Coven’s lighting arsenal is getting extended!
In my possession we now have a new strobe (after the old faithful one died after 7 years of tireless service, and being dropped repeatedly) and a Dual Red (150mW)/ Violet (50mW, 410nm) laser!
Currently waiting on arrival from ebay:
- DMX controller
- Violet 120mW, 415nm laser
- 1500w DMX Strobe (with link out port for controlling the other new strobe)

Hey there Covenites!

Coven’s Medical Emergency is on this Friday. Expect to see Doctors, Nurses and patients with horrific afflictions. It should be a good one!

Should that not be enough for you, should you require more when it comes to the ‘dark arts’, and if you like metal, then we have the gig(s) for you!

If on Saturday the 2nd you aren’t stuck in bed from a punishing Coven experience, or just are too hardcore and need more, the come along to the Brisbane Hotel to see 5 bands traverse the full spectrum of metal. Performing 2 shows (an all ages at 3pm, and an overage show at 8pm) are:

Truth Corroded (hardcore/metalcore) - SA
Ne Obliviscaris (progressive/folk/melodic with a hint of black) - VIC
Separatist (technical death/metalcore) - TAS

Well, it’s nearly that time of the month again… and we expect it’ll be quite bloody.

Don’t be mistaken, we ARE talking about The Coven.

Winter is nearly here and what better way to celebrate the onset of illness than at The Coven’s first theme night for 2009, The Coven: Medical Emergency!

Sterilize your syringes, pull on the rubber gloves, check your prostate and get dressed up to celebrate all things medical. From the infected to the dead, doctors and nurses, apocalypse and biohazard it promises to be a night of epic proportions.

The Coven: Medical Emergency breaks out on Friday May 1st at Halo with all the EBM, Goth, Industrial, and Metal your body can handle.

What:

After last month’s epic return, The Coven is back next Friday, with another chance to ruin your liver function, improve your neck mobility and hair elasticity by banging your head at the only club in Tas bringing you Goth, Industrial, Metal and EBM! Almost up to 9 years young, we’re committed to bringing you music full of Kicks that go DOOF, snares that go CHUNK, synths that rape your ears and guitars that eat your brain. As last time, this Coven will be an epic journey across the tastes of 10 djs with enough laser radiation to perform a corneal corrective surgery every 5 minutes.

We’re also coming up on some awesome themed nights this year, the first will be the May Coven! Come along in April to get the jump on the theme for May!
