I thought I’d have a go at creating a Goth City Map for the Goth City Maps LJ community. I’ve just put in a few things for now, but if you can think of anything of interest to add into a map of hobart for the Goth-Compatible tourist, let me know with a comment to this post!

I thought I would post a list of exciting shops in Hobart that people might be interested in visiting - from a Verity perspective:

1. Ruffcut Records - pretty much the only place in Hobart that you can get Industrial/EBM music and merch.  Nick gives people discounts as well so you need to show him love.
2. Ultralux - 9 Criterion St, Hobart TAS 7000, Ph: (03) 6231 4991, Email ultralux@bigpond.com.  They stock rockabilly/psychobilly stuff that might tickle your fancy, TUK shoes and lots of Emily The Strange for all you angsty grrls.  They used to stock Berserk Clothing as well but I haven’t seen any recently.
3. Pocket Space - No website but here’s a review that says it all.  Lots of cute pop culture stuff.  They have some awesome Mark Ryden framed prints in there at the moment.  Phwoar
4. Ellison Hawker Bookshop - Richard and the kids stock the best range of pop culture, fashion and goth(ish) books in Hobart IMHO.  They specialise in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Paranormal Romance, Crime Fiction and Cult Fiction so visit them, they know what they’re talking about.
5. Area 52 - These guys tend to have movie merch and ranges of goth dolls (you know, Living Dead Dolls, Bleeding Edge Goths etc.) before other stores.  Obviously there are also comics and role playing stuff, which we won’t speak of, will we? NO.
6. Thumbprint - Yes, their site is shit but the store is good if you want stuff™.  They stock Toxic and Nookart accessory ranges and other kooky Accoutrements stuff for your house.  Plus, our friend Leanne works there.
